The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has detected a Chinese-flagged research vessel off the waters of Viga, Catanduanes, which is located at the opposite side of the West Philippine Sea./r

In a statement, the AFP said there were attempts to contact the vessel through regular radio channels but the personnel of the Chinese-flagged research vessel Shen Kuo, did not respond./r

The lack of response during the contact attempts, the military said, was an indication of either lack of responsiveness or unwillingness to communicate./r
