On The Scene: Residents of a flooded city in Brazil’s southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul on Monday (May 6) faced the huge scale of devastation in the region as the death toll climbed to 83 people with more than a hundred still missing, according to authorities. Flooding from storms has destroyed roads and bridges in several cities while triggering landslides and the partial collapse of a dam at a small hydroelectric power plant.
