Tropical Storm Beryl expected to become a major hurricane by Monday
Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to become a hurricane on Saturday (June 29) night or Sunday (June 30), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Saturday.
As of 11 a.m. Eastern time (1500 GMT) the storm was located about 820 miles (1,570 km) east-southeast of Barbados, carrying maximum sustained winds of 65 mph (100 kph), the Miami-based forecaster said.
Beryl is forecast to become a /”dangerous/” major Category 3 hurricane before reaching the Windward Islands, the NHC said.
