Hundreds of Australian firefighters on high alert, preparing for dangerous bushfire season ANC
As thick smoke fills the air, hundreds of volunteer firefighters are out in the bushland surrounding Australia’s capital Sydney conducting hazard reduction burns in preparation for the upcoming bushfire season. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology declared an El Nino event for the country, a weather pattern that typically brings hotter, drier conditions and higher risks of widespread bushfires.
